Yamba's head has a big bandage around it. Jacinta is all excited about Yamba winning the egg and spoon race at the Preschool Sports Day but is puzzled and worried about the bandaged head. Yamba narrates and flashbacks to what happened.

Someone has written on Yamba's calendar that it is Grandma's birthday today. Who could have done it? Yamba organises a theme birthday party for Grandma Honeyant. The theme is hats......but Jacinta who is making the cake thinks it is a Rat party, Cecilina is making the birthday card and she thinks Yamba said a Cat party and Grandma thinks it is a Bat party!
Yamba has to come up with a short song about the desert for preschool and is concerned about what to do. Jacinta helps Yamba think up of words for the song. Red sand, trees, bush tucker, waterholes and riverbeds, desert animals, rocks, hills and ranges are all a backdrop for this song.
