The Archibald

The Archibald

D-Day ... Delivery Day
Episode 3  |  Arts  |  September 26, 2017

This episode picks up the story as our artists are all racing to finish their portraits by the Archibald deadline. Some have sailed through the process - Nicholas Harding has finished his portrait of John Olsen; Tim Storrier has put the finishing touches to his artwork of fellow artist McLean Edwards; and it took Jason Phu around two hours to knock out his portrait of AFL star Lin Jong. But for Dr George Gittoes, there's another twist in his Julian Assange tale. Having painted him inside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where he has been holed up since 2012, George has decided to have a second crack in Afghanistan, where he and his partner Hellen founded an arts centre.
