While America's von Braun (Richard Dillane) could fund the world's most powerful rocket, Soviet designer Sergei Korolev (Steve Nicolson) had only a fraction of the US budget and knew that without a rocket as powerful as the USA's Saturn he would lose the race. Yet the Soviet's Alexei Leonov (Oleg Shtefanko) became the first man to walk in space.
