Stars of the Silver Screen: David Niven
David Niven
Season 3  |  Episode 9  |  Smooth/Arts  |  April 24, 2018

David Niven was Hollywood's quintessential Englishman. With a stoical, stiff-upper lip quality, Niven's persona was also laced with a sense of humour. Hollywood's archetypal gentleman, not just on screen but off screen, he may be best known for his roles as Squadron Leader Peter Carter in A Matter of Life and Death, as Phileas Fogg in Around the World in 80 Days and as Sir Charles Lytton, aka 'the Phantom', in The Pink Panther. He was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Separate Tables (1958).
