Flemish baroque artist Peter Paul Rubens painted vast and grandiose works that are full of drama, tragedy, fantastical celestial scenery and full-figured women. His canvases and murals adorned the walls and ceilings of Europe's grandest palaces, but his work appears to be too much for modern sensibilities and he has fallen out of favour. In this program, Waldemar Januszczak attempts to correct the misconceptions that have arisen about Rubens, looking in detail at his life and re-evaluating his work.
