Michelangelo Revealed
SBS  |  March 27, 2010

A restorer working on a Michelangelo sculpture uncovers evidence showing that the official artist of the Vatican and the Catholic Church, was, during the period of the Inquisition, flirting with Protestantism. Michelangelo belonged to a secret fraternity that was active in trying to avoid a schism in the Catholic and Protestant Churches. All of his friends who were pushing for reforms within the church were subsequently put to death by the Inquisition. Michelangelo however, being too important for the Catholic Church's own propaganda, was spared.
