Journeys Into Genocide

Nation
Season 1  |  Episode 3  |  The History Channel  |  October 13, 2011

The third programme in the series depicts ethnic cleansing of a different kind: the concerted effort to exterminate entire groups for political ends. The turn of the twentieth century saw the rise of nationalism and the first instance of terrible genocides. Innocent groups became convenient scape-goats for political reasons. Powerful and manipulative leaders such as Stalin and Hitler rose out of these brutal nationalistic regimes, inciting ethnic hatred and wiping out whole sectors of society.
