Imbedded in the lumber were eggs of the killer Marabunta ants. Normally, the cold climate of the soil and water would have destroyed the eggs. However, due to unusual volcanic activity, the ground had become a warm breeding ground for the ants to multiply, and eventually attack the town's entire population. Jim Conrad, a professor of entomology, arrives in the village to visit a friend and soon realises that something is wrong. Enlisting the aid of a very attractive biology teacher, Laura, and the Sheriff, they attempt to uncover the mystery of the ants and save the town.
