When Kevin McCloud met Anne and Richard Curtis in 2000, they were about to embark on the ambitious task of converting a disused electricity substation in Sunderland in north-east England into a Moroccan-inspired family home. Anne, a local council arts administrator, and Richard, a policeman, are rebuilding, furnishing and redecorating their house from scratch. It's a project that requires a lot of passion and energy.
