Francisco Goya was born in Aragon, Spain, in 1746. He underwent a major change following a road accident in 1793 and subsequently suffered a stroke that left him deaf. Before 1793, his paintings represented joyful scenes, in bright colours and after his accident he drew grim representations showing the ugly side of human nature.
