This series journeys to a number of Asian countries to understand the relationship between the people and their monarchs. In Cambodia, King Norodom Sihanouk abdicated in 2004, giving way to his son, Norodom Sihamoni - a ballet instructor. Unlike many monarchies, Cambodia's is not hereditary - rather the next monarch is chosen by the National Assembly from a pool of eligible candidates.
