In 1815, Napoleon was taken to the remote island of St Helena in the Atlantic Ocean, a prisoner of the British. It had taken just a year for the monarchies of Europe, the anti-Napoleonic powers of the world, to destroy him. This final episode charts the fall of Napoleon, a key defining moment in global history. He trusted the Tsar of Russia - but the Tsar reneged on their deal. He sought revenge by invading Russia in 1812 - but the campaign was a disaster. He sought to defend France against her enemies - but made some grave, and ultimately suicidal military misjudgements.

In Ireland, Yeats is rightly regarded as the poet laureate of the new nation. In Britain he is regarded as a romantic, Irish dreamer. But the reality of his life and work after Ireland had won independence was a good deal earthier, and a good deal more interesting. This is a documentary by award-winning director Maurice Sweeney which concentrates on the later work of the great poet and the themes that inspired him as an ageing man. In looking at Yeats' later life and work, the film reveals a very different Yeats to the poet we learnt about in school. The film also highlights the apparent mystery that surrounds the whereabouts of his final burial place. Yeats died in France at the start of World War II and his 'remains' were not repatriated for many years. Many historians and critics believe that the body that came home to the strains of The Marseillaise and A Nation Once Again was not that of our beloved poet, but that of an Englishman called Alf. The film examines the facts surrounding Yeats' humble original burial and subsequent much-trumpeted repatriation to Ireland - the final, ironic chapter in a life replete with contradiction and irony. The documentary uncovers not only the brilliant and challenging poetry that never made it into Soundings, but a life - and death - less ordinary. The film contains never before seen footage of Yeats' repatriation to Ireland in 1948, captured by a local film enthusiast and tucked away in the bowels of the Irish Film Archive until now.

Henry VIII is the most iconic king of English history. Once Europe's most promising and enlightened prince, he squandered Britain's riches on futile wars, and tore apart the centuries-old religious certainties of his people. Decades of religious persecution and bloodshed would follow his reign, just as tens of thousands of people were executed as a direct result of both his policies and his personal vendettas. Inside the Court of Henry VIII pulls back the veil to expose the vicious rivalries and conspiracies that characterised his court, where a new breed of man could gain power.

Benedict Cumberbatch portrays Vincent Van Gogh to perfection in this powerful and critically acclaimed docudrama. Based on years of painstaking research, with every single word of dialogue sourced from his original writings, this is the artist's story, in his own words. For 18 years from 1872, Van Gogh chronicled his eventful life through some 900 letters to his younger brother Theo. The correspondence documents in vivid detail his travels and various occupations in the Netherlands, Belgium, England and France. Also explored, is his obsessive religious zeal, his artistic calling, the evolution of his skills, the way he used art and literature to discover and define himself, and the periods of mental instability and depression that plagued him during the years preceding his suicide. Now, this film weaves together the painter's recorded experiences into a compelling story. What emerges is a complex portrait of a sophisticated, civilised and yet tormented man.
