This program takes us to a battered project, to meet Elliott's family and the Brown Sub community living in conditions similar to an African shanty township but unexpectedly, in the US. With violent crime so intense the Metropolitan Police rarely risk an investigation, gun carrying drug gangs substitute for law and order. The three ways out for youth are joining the army, music and death. This program gets us into the inner workings of an urban culture, which has risen out of the poverty of America's poorest communities to become the dominant popular influence on world youth, music and fashion.

After powerful Senate majority leader Lyndon Johnson loses the 1960 Democratic presidential nomination to Senator John F Kennedy, he agrees to be his young rival's running mate. But once they win the election, despite his extensive legislative experience and shrewd political instincts, Johnson finds himself sidelined in the role of vice president. That all changes on November 22, 1963, when Kennedy is assassinated and Johnson, with his devoted wife Lady Bird by his side, is suddenly thrust into the presidency. As the nation mourns, Johnson must contend with long-time adversary Attorney General Bobby Kennedy and one-time mentor Georgia senator Richard Russell as he seeks to honour JFK's legacy by championing the historic Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Readers are turning to her work as they face the rise of authoritarian politics, rapidly evolving technologies, and the slow-motion disaster of climate change. Her poetry and books are about survival, but they are also survival tools in and of themselves. The recent success of the television adaptation of her novel, The Handmaid's Tale, has made Atwood a household name. Yet few know the private Margaret Atwood. Who is the woman behind these stories? How does she seem to know what is to come? With exclusive access over a 12-month period, this documentary follows Atwood and her partner, author and activist Graeme Gibson, as they jet to speaking engagements around the world.
