Some would say that the story of gentrification is the story of America: one group of people live in one place, and another wealthier group moves in and forces the other group out. Nowadays, one tell-tale sign that gentrification is happening in a city is pretty simple: hipsters move in. Portland, Oregon - aka the mecca of hipsters - has real people being affected by changes that gentrification brings. Kamau Bell travels to Portland to meet the people affected by the rapid changing of their neighbourhoods while also talking to the hipsters who've moved there to ask: is it a coincidence that the place some say is the coolest in the country also happens to be the whitest in America? (S.1 Ep.2)

This week, Kamau Bell does just that as he cuts the cord and heads off the grid to meet the people who're happily living a life on their own terms. Just outside Asheville, North Carolina is a man living completely off of the land while just nearby is a "prepper" who keeps his identity a secret as he prepares for the end of days. Kamau also gets a look at the "Tiny House" movement before travelling to Tennessee, where he visits The Farm, a legendary commune that thrived during the Summer of Love and is still truckin' all these years later. (S.1 Ep.6)

One of Australia's greatest photojournalists goes on a riveting first-hand journey through an Afghanistan never seen on the news. For almost 50 years, activist artist George Gittoes has stood on the frontlines of the world's most brutal conflicts and borne witness to the best and worst of humanity. Now living in Afghanistan's remote, Taliban-ruled Jalalabad province, Gittoes turns his attention to the lives of the children and outcasts of this war-torn land. He focuses on three gangs of children: the Ghostbusters, persecuted Kochi boys who hawk exorcisms of bad luck and demons; the Snow Monkeys, who sell ice-cream to support their families; and the Gangsters, a razor gang led by a nine-year-old antihero called Steel. With a deeply humane vision that won him the Sydney Peace Prize, Gittoes shows the unseen nature of Afghanistan's politics, culture and society, up close and startlingly personal.
