The Knights of Lazarus were originally founded at a leper hospital around 1098 by the Crusaders of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. It was established to treat the disease, because the Knights were lepers themselves. The symbol of the order is a green eight-pointed Maltese Cross - the same green cross now used as the universal symbol for retail pharmacies all around the world. the extraordinary history of some the most chivalrous Knights of all - and one of the most righteous of all Orders - is told in the episode of Soldiers of God. Once called the Hospitallers, the Knights of St John were founded to provide care for poor, sick or injured pilgrims to the Holy Land but evolved into a military order with its own Papal charter. Operating originally from the Island of Rhodes and later from Malta, the Order has one of the most fascinating of all histories - dominated by the famous Siege of Malta in 1798, when the island was captured by Napoleon and the Knights were dispersed throughout Europe. This is the whole dramatic story.

Margaret Atwood has never been more relevant than she is today. Readers are turning to her work as they face the rise of authoritarian politics, rapidly evolving technologies, and the slow-motion disaster of climate change. Her poetry and books are about survival, but they are also survival tools in and of themselves. The recent success of the television adaptation of her novel, The Handmaid's Tale, has made Atwood a household name. Yet few know the private Margaret Atwood. Who is the woman behind these stories? How does she seem to know what is to come? With exclusive access over a 12-month period, this documentary follows Atwood and her partner, author and activist Graeme Gibson, as they jet to speaking engagements around the world.

At the start of the Renaissance, Charles of Habsburg was on the brink of becoming the most powerful man in Europe. Heir to the Kingdom of Spain, he also planned to take to the throne of the Germanic Holy Roman Empire. But Francois I, hero of the Battle of Marignano and new King of France, also had his eye on the imperial throne, and was determined to defend his Italian possessions: wars, treachery and imprisonment. The bitter clash between Charles V and Francois I was watched by all Europe with bated breath. And it was a no-holds-barred struggle. From the Chateau de Blois to the battlefield, the epic historical reconstructions and gripping narratives of this series reveal how the lust for power and personal obsessions of princes redrew the frontiers of France and other European nations.
