Preston Sturges was born on 29th August 1898 in Chicago. Sturges was a writer and director, who was renowned for his screwball comedies. Some of Sturges' career highlights include 1941s Sullivan's Travels, the 1941 Barbara Stanwyck-Henry Fonda picture The Lady Eve, the now respected Unfaithfully Yours (1948) which starred Rex Harrison, as well as directing Betty Grable in The Beautiful Blonde from Bashful Bend (1949).

David Lynch was born on January 20, 1946 in Missoula, Montana. Lynch's career began to take off in the late 1970s. He is often drawn to unusual stories, and his most resonant films include Eraserhead (1977), The Elephant Man (1980), Blue Velvet (1986), and Mulholland Drive (2001).

Nicolas Roeg was born on August 15, 1928 in London. Roeg was a BAFTA-nominated director whose background also included work as a cinematographer, and this visual focus exerted influence over his directorial and editing styles. His most famous pictures include 1971's Walkabout, Don't Look Now (1973), and The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976).
