Whitlam: The Power and The Passion
Whitlam: The Power and The Passion
Whitlam: The Power and the Passion is a two-part documentary about Australia's twenty-first prime minister, Gough Whitlam. It tells an extraordinary story of the hard-fought rise and dramatic fall of a visionary Australian prime minister during one of the country's most turbulent eras.

The series tells the story of the turbulent times between 1972 and 1975 when the first Labor Government in Australia for twenty-three years embarked on a massive program of social change. Using archival footage and popular music as well as a number of dramatised re-enactments and the recollections of Australians who were part of these massive social changes, the documentary is lively and entertaining, presenting social history within the context of dramatic political changes.

The documentary would be suitable for middle and senior secondary students of Politics and Society, Australian History, Cultural Studies, English and Media Studies.
