Inland Heart: The Photography of Jeff Carter

For six decades, since 1944, Jeff Carter has been photographing itinerant bush workers, fruit pickers, fishermen, shearers, drovers and battlers, capturing the mood of the country's working class. His work comprises one of Australia's most remarkable and historically significant archives - in all more than 50,000 images of Australian life. This documentary draws together the themes and passions of a lifetime of photographic enquiry.

Inland Heart would be an excellent film to show to middle and senior secondary and tertiary students of Photography. Equally, it would be a fascinating visual text for students of Australian History and society, offering an insight into the realities of rural life in an Australia that is now passing.
