The Evolutionary Relationship Between Man and Technology: Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and Ridley Scott's Blade Runner (ETA)
The rubric for Module A: Comparative Study of Text and Context, Elective 2: Texts in Time, uses terms which should provide some direction in the study of these two texts: "compare", "treatment", "similar content", "different times", "changing values" and "perspectives". Furthermore, the stated objective of the module is to heighten our "understanding of the meaning and significance of each text" through a comparison of values, ideas, and language forms and features. It seems from this, therefore, that there is an implicit question to which one must develop a response: Why have the two set texts been paired? In other words, what insights do we gain as a result of this pairing which we would not gain from an individual and independent study of each text?
