Fenella Kernebone looks at a new music project at the Bionic Ear Institute in Melbourne; we take a behind-the-scenes peek at the play 'Black Face, White Mask' and folk band Cloud Control perform in the studio.

This week on Art Nation art and science come together as Fenella Kernebone visits the Bionic Ear Institute in Melbourne where scientists and composers are working to bring back the enjoyment of music to people with cochlear ear implants.

Namila Benson goes behind the scenes at Black Face, White Mask, a fast-paced, confronting play by a new theatre company, The Flemington Theatre Group, who are predominantly from Horn of Africa backgrounds. The play focuses on the lives of eight young people and what it means to be Afro-Australian as they confront casual racism and family tensions in a challenging blend of drama and comedy.

Art Nation also takes a look at a new exhibition at the Australian Centre for Photography. Zeitgeist Becomes Form takes us on a fashionable journey through five decades of German Fashion photography between 1945 and 1995. This remarkable exhibition shows that at any given time, fashion photography can identify the body language, feelings, moods and sentiments of certain periods in time.

Finally, string quartet Tin Alley perform.
