Anorexia (Theme Pack)
Anorexia (Theme Pack)
A collection of five programs around the topic of anorexia nervosa. Programs include:-

I'M A CHILD ANOREXIC

This is a sensitive and at times shocking insight into the journey of children undergoing treatment for anorexia at Rhodes Farm in London, featuring their own video diaries. See the girls go from the dangerously emaciated and malnourished states they arrive in, to a healthy weight at their departure. But will their attitude to weight change while at the clinic? Can they maintain their weight at home?

I'M A BOY ANOREXIC

Though anorexia is usually thought of as a young girl's problem, one in ten sufferers are boys. This sensitive observational documentary follows the struggle of three young lads attempting to overcome this life-threatening eating disorder at Rhodes Farm, a specialist clinic in London, England. The clinic, run by Dr Dee Dawson, has treated more than 750 patients over the past 14 years.

HOT DOCS: DYING TO BE ANOREXIC

Anorexia: it's a lifestyle not a disease. That's the view of the three young people who feature in this observational documentary. Part of the pro-anorexic world, they reject the idea of 'eating disorders', instead choosing to celebrate them as a lifestyle choice. For the first time this program investigates the underground network of pro-anorexic websites, which encourage people to raise their condition to an almost cult like status. It tackles head-on the extreme lifestyle of people with eating disorders, and what motivates younger people who choose to live their lives in this way.

INSIGHT: STARVING FOR ANSWERS

"James" is not your stereotypical anorexic. The 32 year old white collar professional has been battling the disorder for four years, managing to hide his illness from his colleagues. Experts are not surprised. They say the common perception that eating disorders only affect girls in their mid-teens is simply untrue. Even women aged in their 50s and 60s are struggling with anorexia and bulimia. Join Insight as we talk to "James" and others about how they fell into the deep hole of anorexia and bulimia - and how they hope to dig themselves out.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SIZE ZERO

Louise Redknapp discovers first hand the dangers and current obsession of being stick thin. She undertakes an extreme crash diet and exercise plan, in attempt to drop to two dress sizes within 30 days.
