Message Stick: Talking Stick - Law And Justice, Series 2: Ep 3 Of 6
Message Stick presents a new series of studio chat programs called Talking Stick. In this series, presenter Miriam Corowa speaks to Indigenous and non-Indigenous insiders to discuss six topics of interest to all Australians.

From the vexed subjects of Aboriginal health, education and justice, to national and international success in sport and music and the impact of climate change on communities across the country, Talking Stick provides a candid assessment of the state of the Indigenous nation.

In episode three, Law and Justice, Miriam and her guests consider how Australia is to be judged when it's clear that the most vulnerable and disadvantaged group, Indigenous Australians, are also the group most likely to be found in our increasingly overcrowded prisons. Miriam speaks to three specialists who work tirelessly to break this cycle and bring some sense of hope that there is a positive alternative to incarceration.

This week's Talking Stick panel are Dennis Eggington, Chief Executive Officer of the Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia since 1995; Professor Chris Cunneen, one of Australia's leading experts on Indigenous crime, punishment, and juvenile justice; and Colleen Murray, EO of the Tirkandi Inaburra Centre which assists 'at risk' Indigenous teenage boys to avoid the juvenile justice system.
